Michał Ossowski

About me

I was born on 1984 in Toruń, Poland. I completed studies in composition under prof. Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil. I have won several prizes at national competitions for composers. My pieces were performed at festivals e.g. concerts of the Youth Circle of Polish Composers Union during Warsaw Autumn and PROBALTICA - Music and Art Festival of the Baltic Countries. As a student of Toruń Music School I've performed soloist part of Concertino Op. 26 for clarinet and orchestra by Carl Maria von Weber, with Michał Dworzyński (conductor) and Toruń Chamber Orchestra.

With my composers' work I use multiple algorithmic composition tools to improve my invention and widen creativity, as from simple calculator, to extended visual programming environment such as OpenMusic and Pure Data.

For several years I create websites. I'm content user of GNU/Linux operating systems, especially Debian. I'm living in Poznań and work as a teacher of harmony and ear training in the Music School in Słupca.

Selected recordings

Złom (Scrap) was composed in the spring of 2009 with a view to concert organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Polish Composers' Union Youth Circle. It was performed during the 52th Warsaw Autumn Festival, September 20, 2009, among 60 60-second works in most composed specially for this occasion. Performers: Oliwier Andruszczenko - clarinet, Wojciech Błażejczyk - electric guitar, Magdalena Lisak - piano.
